RIMECO and Reach
The European Union Reach Regulation
The Reach Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restrictions of Chemicals) entered into force on the 1st of June 2007. As a consequence, companies using substances, preparations (chemicals) and articles need to take actions to secure their supply and use of these. Companies manufacturing and importing substances on their own or as part of preparations or even articles in certain cases, into the European Union and the European Economic Area, will have to register these substances at the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) if not exempted from REACH. If a substance has not been pre-registered and registered accordingly by predefined deadlines, the production or import will not be allowed, thus also ultimately affecting the downstream use of these. As a European Union Regulation, REACH is applied directly in all member states including European Economic Area -countries.
